The PTI is very proud to announce that Oakwood Park Grammar School has become the first school to have 10 departments as members of the PTI - the ‘gold standard’ of engagement with our programmes. Along with the leadership team participating in our Schools Leadership Programme, the English, History, Science, Geography, Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages, Music, Art and Latin departments are all members of our Schools Programme!

Oakwood Park has been involved with the PTI from the very beginning, with their History department being part of the first trial cohort of Schools Programme members, launched in 2008. The English and Latin departments are the newest additions, embarking on their first year of the Schools Programme in 2013/14.

“Oakwood Park Grammar School’s involvement with The Prince’s Teaching Institute has allowed us to put academic subjects at the heart of school improvement and helped us fulfil our aim of providing an ‘Exceptional Learning Experience’. The PTI’s emphasis on subject knowledge and rigour has given teachers great encouragement in developing their practice, in and out of the classroom, and inspired them to develop excellent learning opportunities for students in their subjects. Teachers always return from PTI events with refreshed enthusiasm for their subject and their teaching. It is no coincidence that the subjects involved with the PTI have seen improvement in results and student uptake at GCSE, A Level and University. Meanwhile, the Leadership Programme gave us expert advice and support in developing our Continuous Professional Development programme and the role of Subject Leaders.”
