Primary school teachers from the Bolton Primary Hub can attend these four bespoke CPD days for free.

Early Reading with Dr Helen Hendry

Dr Hendry is a specialist in early education with a particular focus on literacy and inclusion. Helen draws on over 25 years experience as a teacher, advisory teacher, teacher educator and researcher. Helen joined the OU in 2019 as a lecturer on the MA in Education programme after 13 years working on a range of Education programmes at Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln. Originally an early years and primary teacher and senior leader for EYFS and Literacy in schools in Cornwall, Slough and Buckinghamshire, Helen later became a Lead Practitioner for Early Years and then an Area SENCO where her role was to train and support early years settings with SEN provision in Slough. Helen worked with multi-agency teams across education, health and social care to provide referral, advice and training for the maintained, private, voluntary and independent Early Years education sector. Following her experience of the Primary PGCE programme Helen gained a role as a Senior Lecturer for the Education Studies undergraduate Programme at Bishop Grosseteste University and later became Programme Leader. Helen has led modules on Education policy and curriculum, research methods and language and literacy in education.

D&T with Ryan Ball, D&T Association 

Ryan has been a D&T teacher for 17 years, teaching in the U.K., Middle East and Malaysia. He has taught students from age 7 to 18, with his students winning awards for the highest marks in the country and world. He has presented at various educational conferences in Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Madrid. He is an Ofqual consultant, previous F1 in Schools' In-country coordinator and world finalist, D&T author and Autodesk trainer and content writer. He now works full-time for the D&T Association.
