The PTI wish to celebrate schools that share our values; we believe long-term commitment to embedding The PTI philosophy into educational practice creates real impact. We want to recognise the courage and initiative of schools who empower inspirational teaching and subject specific pedagogy.
"St Edwards College (SEC) is an 11-18 co-educational, Catholic comprehensive school, in West Derby, Liverpool. 1,151 students are on roll, while there are above average PP and SEND numbers compared to other educational settings outside of the Liverpool City Region.
After the Geography department’s chance encounter at The PTI’s inimitable Cambridge Residential in 2019, 7 St Edwards College departments secured the Subject Leadership Mark in 2025 including Art, Design and Technology, English, Geography, MFL, Science and Leadership. Learners and educators are benefitting from The PTI’s modus operandi upskilling teachers, truly inspiring our students in the classroom. This has led to colleagues receiving exciting endorsements and accreditations including the Martin Roberts Award at New Teacher Subject Days, Middle Leader Certificates and the Bernice McCabe Award in 2024.
The PTI’s focus on quality first teaching is a stimulus to challenge regional inequalities in educational experiences and outcomes allowing our students to enjoy rapid and sustained progress. Furthermore, The PTI’s framework offers a first-class vehicle which provides the mechanism to achieve our college’s educational goals, the slick dexterity of learners and educators working together to be good ancestors, leaving the jersey in a better place, planting trees we will never see (Kerr, 2013)."
