The PTI wish to celebrate schools that share our values; we believe long-term commitment to embedding The PTI philosophy into educational practice creates real impact. We want to recognise the courage and initiative of schools who empower inspirational teaching and subject specific pedagogy.
Priory School is an 11-16 mixed comprehensive school set in the rural town of Lewes but catering for students from a wide-reaching area along the East Sussex coast. We are proud of the highly successful rounded education we provide. Education at Priory School is centred around three educational domains: Knowing, Belonging and Becoming, through which we support students to strive for academic success, contribute positively to the school community and embrace personal growth.
At Priory The PTI plays a pivotal role in enhancing the professional development of teachers, focusing on deepening their subject knowledge and fostering a genuine passion for their disciplines, something that we really value at Priory. So many of our staff sign up to the online CPD in their own time. They are often about topics that they don’t necessarily teach but they have found them enriching and inspiring.
Many of our teachers and subject leads have been involved in the Development Planning Programs and have come back enthused and invigorated from residential weekends where they have been treated to fabulous speakers and have been reminded of their love for their subject. It was great to have RS involved this year for the first time and so they join English, Maths, MFL, History and PE in their collaboration with The PTI.
The MFL department has been involved with The PTI for many years and was nominated last year for the Bernice McCade Award. This prestigious award recognises an exceptional department that demonstrates The PTI’s ethos and values through their membership of the DDP, both within and beyond the curriculum. It is a great example of the impact The PTI has had in the classroom.
“Our involvement with The PTI has been incredibly inspiring, particularly during our MFL development day. The high-quality CPD sessions and engaging lecturers have not only enriched our teaching methodologies but have also fostered a well-rounded department. This, in turn, has had a profound positive impact on our students, enhancing their overall learning experience in learning foreign languages.” Morgan Lassalle, Teacher of MFL
Our staff really appreciate the broad variety of CPD on offer via The PTI and as a leadership team, we have found the leadership offer relevant, professional and optimistic. In addition, the Leadership Symposium is a unique conference which offers vital time and space to explore and challenge the latest educational thinking, providing the opportunity to step back and reflect on our values and educational purpose. We look forward to working with The PTI next year and developing stronger links across more subjects.
