The PTI wish to celebrate schools that share our values; we believe long-term commitment to embedding The PTI philosophy into educational practice creates real impact. We want to recognise the courage and initiative of schools who empower inspirational teaching and subject specific pedagogy.
"Haberdashers’ Slade Green Primary School is a nurturing and inclusive nursery and primary school in Erith, Kent, serving a richly diverse community of 237 pupils (rising to 265 including nursery), with 25.7% eligible for pupil premium. As part of the Haberdashers’ Academies Trust South, the school is recognised for strong Key Stage 2 outcomes, multiple Green Flag Awards for environmental leadership, and curriculum innovation through engagement with The PTI Primary Hub. Our engagement with The PTI is driven by a commitment to high-quality, subject-specific professional development that empowers leaders and teachers to deepen curriculum thinking and enrich pupils’ learning experiences.
My involvement with The PTI has centred on attending the Art Hub Day, a bespoke and highly specialised CPD opportunity designed for Art Leaders. The day provided rich professional dialogue, practical workshops and expert-led sessions that both met and exceeded my expectations. It strengthened my confidence and clarity as Art Lead, equipping me with a bank of strategies to support our small teaching team and to view curriculum planning through a more connected and ambitious lens. Building on the successful impact of a previous Science Hub Day attended by our Science Lead, we collectively used this learning to launch a school-wide social action initiative that purposefully linked art, science and the natural world.
The impact of working with The PTI has been transformative for our school. Inspired by the Art Hub Day, we developed a gardening and environmental project rooted in hands-on learning, creativity and stewardship. Working initially with our Year 5 class as part of the Haberdashers’ Changemakers project, pupils collaborated with Trust Directors to explore how art, science and PSHE could be used to enhance the school and wider community. This vision quickly spread across the school: pupils volunteered at lunchtimes to care for plants, every classroom became home to greenery, and corridors were brightened with fruit trees that sparked curiosity and conversation.

Art became a powerful catalyst for joy, leadership and deeper thinking. Year 5 pupils led seed-planting sessions for younger children, while learning extended into the kitchen through harvesting herbs and cooking together. Pupils explored the influence of plants in the history of art, inspiring a surge in creativity both in school and at home. Teachers now draw on shared PTI-informed strategies to deliver a curriculum that is purposeful, connected and memorable. The legacy is visible in thriving plants, confident pupils and a richer curriculum, as well as in the Slade Green Fingers team achieving first place for the third consecutive year in the Haberdashers’ Changemakers project. Ultimately, The PTI has helped us use art as a vehicle for inspiration, social action and meaningful change across our school community."
