The PTI wish to celebrate schools that share our values; we believe long-term commitment to embedding The PTI philosophy into educational practice creates real impact. We want to recognise the courage and initiative of schools who empower inspirational teaching and subject specific pedagogy.
Alder Tree Primary Academy, located in inner city Leeds, serves a diverse community. We are committed to helping every child reach their full potential, guided by our values: Believe, Belong, Become. These values underpin every decision made by children and adults alike. Alder Tree Primary is proud to be actively engaged with The PTI, an involvement that has had a truly transformative impact on both our staff and students. Our staff have engaged regularly with the online CPD sessions, listening to expert speakers, sharing good practice and then implementing this back in their classrooms.

Through the newly established Leeds Primary Hub, staff at Alder Tree Primary have participated in hub days on key subject areas, developed and shared curriculum case studies, gained the Primary Hub Mark, and participated in inspiring Leadership Symposiums. All these experiences have enabled our teachers to bring fresh ideas, innovative approaches, and renewed subject expertise directly back into the classroom.
As a result, children at Alder Tree Primary are benefitting enormously, experiencing a richer, more challenging, and engaging curriculum that sparks curiosity and deepens learning. The PTI promotes collaboration, and this is something, that working alongside them, we have developed significantly through exposure to local opportunities and expertise. Working with The PTI has strengthened collaboration across our school and with other schools in the hub, fostering a culture of professional excellence, passion, and enthusiasm for learning that resonates throughout the entire Alder Tree Primary community.
Quotes:
“Attending The PTI Geography Day was an invaluable experience that helped me grow in both confidence and professional practice. The session encouraged me to explore new and innovative areas within the Geography curriculum, broadening my subject knowledge and inspiring fresh approaches to teaching and learning. Collaborating with other Geography leads provided a valuable opportunity to share ideas, discuss challenges, and reflect on effective strategies for curriculum development. As a result, I have gained renewed enthusiasm and practical insights that are already helping me enhance the quality of Geography provision in my school”.
“The PTI History Hub Day had a significant impact on me as a subject lead, providing a valuable opportunity to connect with other history leads in the area and share best practices. It inspired me to explore new resources, such as collaborating with Leeds Museums and using their artefact boxes to enrich our history topics. The day also helped me begin developing a concept progression map, focusing on key historical strands like migration, invasion, and social inequality, which will strengthen the coherence and depth of our curriculum”.
