Professor Phil Powrie recommends these films for French teachers to use in lessons:
- Bande de filles, directed by Céline Sciamma
- Alceste à bicyclette, directed by Philippe Le Guay
- Dans la maison, directed by François Ozon
- Le Samouraï, directed by Jean-Pierre Melville
- Mammuth, directed by Benoît Delépine and Gustave de Kervern
Film clips can be used in Key Stages 3 and 4 to exploit various language input, whilst Bande de filles is a great, modern banlieue film to use with the Key Stage 5 topic of immigration and integration.
Professor Phil Powrie, University of Surrey, recommended the above films for French teachers in his talk at the New Teacher Subject Days course on Le cinema. Paul Haywood, Subject Leader for Modern Languages at The Henrietta Barnett School, suggested ways to use these films in the classroom.
Schools Programme members can download the resources from the event in the PTI Staffroom.
