Primary school teachers from the South West Primary Hub can attend these four bespoke CPD days for free.

Early Years & Science 

With guest speaker, Greg Bottrill

  • Celebrate, exemplify and evidence the impact of purposeful play in early years with acquiring knowledge, using science as the focus subject, via wonder, make believe and joy!
  • Create a simple ‘rubric for play’ throughout the primary phase, linked to ‘how deeply’ children learn when immersed in wonder and playful experiences
  • Discuss existing and desired practice in current school settings linked to play and acquisition of knowledge and skills; with a roadmap for improvement

  • An opportunity to reflect on whole class teaching to ensure the needs of all learners are met
  • To celebrate achievable, meaningful and rich pedagogical approaches which will consistently support pupils with complex needs, such as Autism. acquire knowledge, skills and understanding
  • How often simple tweaks to existing practice, will significantly support the cognitive load of all pupils thus ensuring maximum learning retention and progress for all

  • Share and celebrate examples of successful 'Design and Make' projects across EYFS to Y6; exemplifying the growth in technical knowledge.
  • Demonstrate how 'evaluation' in design technology is a key part of developing a critical understanding of 'use' in daily life and developments in the wider world.
  • Celebrate the creativity and imagination that DT brings to our pupils and how it brings together the broad range of subject knowledge pupils are immersed in; allowing them to think deeply about the interconnectedness (maths, science, engineering, computing and art).



As a Primary Hub, there is a free place for a headteacher within your Hub on the Primary Leadership Conference.
